RI's Teacher Vaccination Plan Could Come Tuesday
Gov. McKee is holding a news conference at 11:30 a.m. to talk about the plan to vaccinate teachers, school staff and childcare workers.

Rhode Island's plan to vaccinate teachers could come as soon as Tuesday.
Newly sworn-in Gov. Daniel McKee is holding a press conference at 11:30 a.m. to talk about the state's initiative to vaccinate teachers, school staff and childcare workers. He'll be joined at St. Anthony's Parish Center in Pawtucket by state and local health and education officials, including Health Director Nicole Alexander-Scott.
Rhode Island's vaccination plan does not currently take one's profession into account. Teachers under the age of 65 can only make vaccination appointments at CVS and Walgreens pharmacies, which at the direction of President Biden are able to vaccinate teachers.

Walgreens had caused confusion Monday morning by removing teachers, school staff and childcare workers from their vaccination eligibility list just days after adding them. Those groups were put back on the list around noon.
"As we continue to scale our COVID-19 vaccination program and demand remains high, customers may experience temporary issues with our vaccine scheduler, which may include delays and confusion in updating eligibility in their area," a Walgreens spokesperson said. "We apologize for the confusion this caused our customers, and will continue to work hand in hand with the state of Rhode Island to vaccinate our most vulnerable patients as quickly as possible."
