Here are the top five stories from Pawtucket:

1. Surveillance video from the parking lot of a West Greenwich pizza shop shows off-duty Pawtucket Police Officer Daniel Dolan, Jr. moments before he shot and injured a teenage boy behind the wheel of a black Audi sedan. Three boys had driven on Route 95 and were heading to pick up pizza and watch the NBA game when they were confronted by Dolan, who was driving a white truck and did not identify himself as a police officer, a lawyer for the teen driver told The Boston Globe. ABC6 was first to procure the video, and you can watch that here. Dolan has been placed on leave and the shooting is under investigation by Rhode Island State Police, the Office of the Attorney General, and West Warwick police. The driver, an 18-year-old West Greenwich resident, was treated at the hospital and is recovering at home.

2. Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera says she’ll carry the ball over the line for a new high school. The current 1927 building is in rough shape. Under pending legislation, the small city, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2012, would borrow $5.76 million, or 4 percent of the cost. The state, which took financial control of the school district 30 years ago, would borrow the rest. The Boston Globe has the details. (Patch has the Cliff Notes.)

3. The Rhode Island Senate passed bills this week to issue driving privileges to undocumented residents and to legalize, tax, and regulate adult-use cannabis. House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi, however, says he’s in no hurry on the cannabis bill. (Marijuana Moment) If you want more, Shekarchi spoke with Rhode Island Report, the podcast by Boston Globe reporter Ed Fitzpatrick:

4. In nearby Cumberland, the Town Council just reduced the number of beverage and victualing liquor licenses from 18 to 15 in a gradual move to completely phase them out. The “BV” license is the type typically held by a simple barroom. The town in 2008 created a different class of liquor license for restaurants that primarily serve food. (The Valley Breeze)

5. In nearby Providence - WaterFire might not continue to exist as a result of a City Council Finance Committee vote Thursday to reject the organization’s $300,000 request for federal funding under the American Rescue Plan Act. “We might not make our 27th year,” WaterFire’s Peter Mello told GoLocal Prov. “I’m only talking with you today because of CARES Act money.”
