6 Pets Killed, 4 People Displaced In Tiverton House Fire

While the flames were contained to just one room, smoke and water damaged the rest of the house.

TIVERTON, RI — Six pets were killed in a house fire in Tiverton Monday, the fire department said. Four people were displaced, and received assistance from the American Red Cross.

The fire broke out at the Cottrell Road house around 10:15 a.m. Light smoke could be seen coming out of the house, and firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes. According to the fire department, the flames were contained to one room, but smoke and water damaged the rest of the house.

Fall River and Portsmouth fire crews were called in to assist, while Little Compton, Westport and Middletown helped cover the station. The cause of the fire has not been identified at this time.
