TIVERTON-LITTLE COMPTON, RI — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including on Aquidneck Island. Although Tiverton and Little Compton do not have displays of their own, other popular events on the island have been postponed, canceled or scaled down.

The Newport City Council voted to postpone this year's fireworks display. A new date has not yet been announced.

Bristol, home of the country's longest-running Independence Day celebration, will hold the parade, though it will be smaller than years past and several other events have been postponed.
