Cody Toolis Pleads To Tiverton Bank Robbery
Toolis pleaded guilty in federal court to robbing the Bank Newport branch on Main Street.

TIVERTON, RI — Cody Toolis pleaded guilty in Providence federal court on Thursday to a charge he robbed the Bank Newport branch in Tiverton. He stole $460 on April 2. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Toolis first stole a car in New Bedford, Mass., and used it to drive to Tiverton.
According to court papers, "at approximately 9:15 a.m., he entered the branch office of Bank Newport in Tiverton and handed a note to a teller that read, 'Do not move, I have a gun, need $500 in 20’s, I am desperate.' A witness gave police a description of his getaway car.
Toolis was caught after Tiverton police posted surveillance camera photos on social media. Many people recognized him. On April 9, he turned himself in to the Bristol police.
