Coronavirus In Tiverton: Playgrounds, Public Areas Closed
The town's beaches will remain open for now, police said, provided residents do not congregate and practice social distancing.
TIVERTON, RI — All playgrounds and public recreation ares in Tiverton have been closed in an effort to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of the new coronavirus. The Town Hall is also closed to the public while the town remains under a state of emergency.
At this time, Tiverton's beaches will remain open, the police department said, but residents are again reminded not to congregate there. The entrances to playgrounds and other public areas have been closed off with caution tape to prevent people from going in during the closure.
The town has been under a state of emergency since March 16. While the order is in effect, all planned events have been canceled. All entertainment or special events licenses have been suspended, and no new ones will be issued. The Town Hall is also closed to the public for the time being, and residents are encouraged to conduct their town business online is possible.

"We are working closely with our state and local official to keep on top of this
situation," Town Council President Patricia Hilton said at the time. "I am encouraging all our residents to take common sense measure like frequent handwashing, avoid crowds, and limit your interaction with municipal government except when absolutely necessary."
All non-essential town meanings have been postponed until further notice.
