Tiverton Fire Kills Three Dogs, Destroys House Wednesday
The fire was down the street from the fire station, the captain said, and crews were at the scene in about one minute.

TIVERTON, RI—The day before Thanksgiving, a Tiverton family lost its home and three pets to a fire that started in the kitchen.
"Obviously, it's tragic right around the holidays," Capt. Craig Committo said. Although the crews arrived within a minute of the first call at 2:18 p.m., the firefighters were unable to save the three dogs. (A fourth dog was at the veterinarian and was not home when the fire started.)
The owner arrived home and brought out one dog. Crews found the two others inside the house, but it was too late to save them.

"The house is a total loss," Committo said. The cause is still under investigation, but the fire started in the kitchen, he said. No one was at home when the fire broke out, he said.
"The crews did a quick knockdown," he said. Tiverton crews had a fire under control around 2:45 p.m. Little Compton and Fall River, Mass., provided mutual aid.
