Grinell’s Beach In Tiverton Closed To Swimming

The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing the Tiverton beach on the same day Spring Lake beach was reopened.

TIVERTON, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended the closure of Grinell’s Beach in Tiverton on Wednesday due to high levels of bacteria in the water. Health officials will continue to monitor bacteria levels in the water daily and the beach will likely reopen within a few days.

That same day, the department announced that bacteria levels in Spring Lake Beach in Burrillville have returned to safe levels and recommended that the beach reopen to the public.

"RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout the summer season. The status of a beach may change on a daily basis," the department said in a release.
