The Sogkonate Garden Club will present an exciting program Growing and Caring for Meadows and Grasses by well-known plant ecologist Gary Plunkett on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:30 PM at the Little Compton Community Center. Topics on establishing and managing a meadow, choosing wildflowers species that can survive the rigors of successional dynamics and grassland stewardship will be discussed.

Garry Plunkett has been studying New England plant ecology for thirty years. During that time he has created remarkable “backyard biodiversity” on his Tiverton property – to include a meadow. He completed the Native Plant Trust’s Advanced Certificate in Field Botany, and has taught in that program. He co-chairs the Open Space Commission in Tiverton, and is a principal steward for over 1500 acres of Tiverton’s protected natural areas, including Weetamoo Woods – Pardon Gray Preserve, Sin and Flesh Brook Natural Area, and the Pocasset Ridge Conservation Area.
