The Federal, State, and Local governments should be coordinating to encourage social distancing, wearing of a face covering, and limiting social interactions. This behavior will most likely go on until we have the virus contained or a vaccine is developed. Many pathologists have theorized that the virus could be contained within 4-6 weeks if everyone follows the basic guidelines to protect the health of our communities. If everyone followed the guidelines, we would be able to reopen the economy to some extent, without the risk of an outbreak of the virus.
Do you believe systemic racism is a problem in America generally and Rhode Island specifically, and if so, what would you do to combat it?
Yes, systemic racism is a problem across the Country, and in Rhode Island. White people, and people in positions of power, need to listen to people of color to learn about ways we can dismantle the racism embedded in our society. We also need to openly condemn and fight racist actions used to victimize people of color.
Should the words "Providence Plantations" be removed from the state's name?
Yes
