Obituary: Richard Harry Phillips, Sr., 77, Korean War Veteran

​Richard Harry Phillips, Sr., 77, of Panama City Beach, FL, formally of Tiverton, RI, passed away on July 17, 2016 after a brief illness.

Richard Harry Phillips, Sr., 77, of Panama City Beach, FL, formally of Tiverton, RI, passed away on July 17, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Raymond T. Phillips, Sr., and Susie Phillips.

Dick was a graduate of De La Salle Academy in Newport, RI, class of 1956. He was a member of the US Army, serving in the Korean War.

He was the husband of Deborah (Carlson) Phillips. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Richard H. Phillips, Jr. and his wife Debra, William N. Phillips and his wife Dorene, Charles W. Phillips and his wife Stacey, all of Tiverton, RI; a step daughter, Liza Lema Corday and her husband Jonathan of Washington, NJ; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth A. Hawley and her husband Robert, and a sister in law, Penny Phillips, all of Fall River, MA. He was pre deceased by his brother, Raymond T. Phillips, Jr.

Dick was the MWR Director at the Naval Education Training Center in Newport, RI from 1983 until his retirement in 2003. He was the former owner of R. H. Phillips Custom Framing shop in Fall River, MA.

Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to Panama City Beach, FL. Dick enjoyed all sports, but had a deep passion for golf, the Patriots and the Red Sox. He was a member of the Bay Point Golf Club and the Bay Point Yacht Club.

A memorial service will be held at a later time in Panama City Beach, Fl. Burial will be private.
