Save Tashas leg

Tasha was Tiverton High schools varsity goelie, a college recruited goalie unrol she was violently assaulted fresan year of college

Natasha ( she likes to be called Tasha) was a recruited soccer goalie. Played year round for 8 years. It was her whole life. She broke the pk record as a goalie in Italy for a USA team ! often saved 50 of 55 shots per half of a game during high school . She was very talented and dedicated. We sent her to college, she was recruited there and it was her first choice, she should have had the time of her life. EXCEPT, she was violently assaulted by her roommmate. It could have and should have been prevented! But now , tasha’s whole world is gone and she must build a new one. It has been like a death in the home , our Lives are forever changed ! She was assaulted feb 2018 and had her first leg reconstruction with cadaver ligaments and parts in May 2018. We thought a surgery , physical therapy and back to life. We had no idea of the nightmare to begin and how bad this injury really was. It is NOT an act, mcl etc The surgery did not take as is the nature of that surgery. We had to wait the year of recovery time to to do next step. There are very few ortho drs who do this surgery. She needs 2 more surgeries this year. The first one in simple terms breaks her entire leg and regrafts everything. The 2nd will be 6 months later to remove grafting plates and screws. These are very painful surgeries with a year and a half recovery !! At that time it will be decided if she needs new hips, since her tibia bone sits outside her knee , her hips are misaglingned 50% causing damage to her hips and back. She has lost a year and a half of her life and at least 2-3 more years , she has no quad muscle at all so she just barely walks, doesn’t sleep and is in constant pain !!! She will never play soccer again , swim, stairs , run or do all the things we take for granted and she is only 20 years old! The goal is to keep her walking at least. We are praying for the best because we are already in hell We thought we had good insurance until this. We have over 40,000+ in deductibles alone plus limits on PT visits that will not be near enough to get her to walk. Beacause of leg and hip damage , she needs an ada compliant bathroom as well as a stair lift. She is in treatment for depression and ptsd We have already paid 10’s of thousands out of pocket for her medical care and just can not cover any more. I have MS and can’t drive far so my husband who earns 90% of our income will be taking a lot of unpaid fmla time to take her to Boston , pt, visits etc. And there’s so much more we haven’t gotten to yet medically . I have exhausted all other avenues to no avail All college recruiters have stopped calling. And the worst part was she had a god given talent with special people. She has been mentoring them since kindergarten. It’s who she is, she used to come home from college to spend time with them on weekends . She doesn’t want to be a special education teacher anymore which is a huge loss to those who really need it and the community. She even tried to give a piece of her kidney to a boy in need and is on all bone marrow transplant lists. Tasha’s a very giving person for someone so young, I don’t want her to give up on that , the world needs more people like that ! I really didn’t want to go this route but as a mom I have to do everything I can to save her leg and help her put her life together again. She has a very long road ahead to just lead a normal life , your support , prayers, sharing will all mean so much to her and us as well. Thank you for reading our story
