TIVERTON, RI — A Tiverton High School athlete is among only two students in The Ocean state to receive the 2020-2021 Rhode Island Interscholastic League award.

The athlete, Mariah Ramos, was chosen alongside her counterpart — Kenny Rix of Pilgrim High School — for their excellence in the classroom and during competition. RIIL athletes of the year participate in multiple school-sponsored sports and are good citizens in their schools and communities, the organization said.

Both athletes will be honored during the 9th annual RIIL Awards Luncheon on May 26, according to the interscholastic league. The luncheon will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.
