A 29-year-old Tiverton man faces felony burglary charges after he was caught red handed in the act of burglarizing a local liquor store and then the high school the following day.

A 29-year-old Tiverton man faces felony burglary charges after breaking into two separate buildings two days in a row.

Nathan R. Fournier, 29, of 23 Margaret St., Tiverton, was charged with two counts of felony burglary after he allegedly broke into a local liquor store and then into Tiverton High School the following day.

On Tuesday, July 13 at 2:24 a.m. Tiverton Police received a report that a burglar alarm had been activated with multiple motion sensors activated at Crossroads Liquors, located at 1540 Bulgarmarsh Road. Upon arriving, officers noted the glass in the store's front windows was smashed and saw blood stains inside the store consistent with someone punching or kicking the glass to gain entry.
The store's owners met police on scene and reported seeing a suspicious person loitering in front of the Subway at the intersection of Stafford and Bulgarmarsh roads.

Police responded to the area where they found Fournier with blood stains on his hands drinking a bottle of Bacardi rum.

Fournier was arrested and released on $10,000 bail with surety the following day.

After being released from jail on felony burglary charges on Wednesday, July 14, Fournier was arrested hours later after allegedly breaking into Tiverton High School and vandalizing several computers and classrooms.

Police responded to Tiverton High School at 11:56 p.m., to a call for a burglar alarm going off inside. The custodian was already there when police arrived and told officers that he had seen signs that the building had been entered. Police conducted a search of the building and found vandalism to the school library, where glass was kicked out, and to computers, which were knocked over and smashed on the ground in the IT room. Police found Fournier sleeping at a teachers desk in the IT room and arrested him.

Following the second alleged burglary by Fournier, he was held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston pending arraignment.

In all, Fournier faces two counts of felony burglary, one count of vandalism, one count of larceny, and one count of disorderly conduct.

All arrest information was provided solely by the Tiverton Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
