Tiverton Police Launch Camera Registration Program
Residents and local businesses are asked to join the voluntary program to help Tiverton police investigate crimes.
TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton police are asking residents to register their home security cameras to help officers solve crimes in the area. The registration program is completely voluntary and does not give the department access to cameras.
When a crime happens, officers will use the registry to see if there is a camera nearby. If so, the person will be asked to review their security footage to see if there is a clear view of suspects or vehicles. If anything useful is found, the owner can then contact the department to share the footage.
The program is completely free and totally voluntary. Police will not have direct access to anyone's security cameras.
