Tiverton School Officials Delay School Starting By One Day

Elementary school will still start Tuesday.

TIVERTON, RI — School will be delayed by a day for the Tiverton school district after successfully convincing the school committee to allow grades 5 to 12 to start on Wednesday. Elementary school will still start Tuesday.

Construction in the high school and middle school is delaying teachers being able to get their classrooms ready. Teachers were hoping to have their classrooms ready Friday, but construction cleanup is delaying this.

Teachers Union President Amy Mullen told Newport RI she asked the school administration three weeks ago to delay the opening knowing the $15.4 million construction projects at the high school and middle schools would interfere with teacher's being able to get their classrooms ready in time.
