A slow-moving system is moving into southern New England Thursday, bringing several inches of plowable snow to Rhode Island. Parking bans are in place in cities and towns across the state in anticipation of unpleasant snow conditions.

The first flakes are expected to fall in much of the state between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., though earlier snowfall onset is expected along the southern coast. Four two six inches of slow-building accumulation are expected across the state, with the snow expected to continue overnight and throughout the day Friday.
