Wild Mushroom Hunting in Rhode Island
Tiverton Library Presents Wild Mushroom Hunting Presentation at Sandywoods
More and more people are discovering that mushroom hunting is not only easy, but unbelievably fun. It is also safe, if done properly. Right here in the Ocean State, varieties that are safe for beginners can be found in abundance if you know where--and when--to look. On Monday, February 23 at 6:30 PM, Ryan Bouchard and Emily Schmidt will give a presentation about this fascinating hobby. They will present some amazing local varieties, focusing on those that are safe for beginners, and discuss their health and nutritional values as well. They will be showcasing the new, expanded Gourmet Mushrooms of Rhode Island, which is simultaneously a large, beautiful 2015 calendar and a 44-page book, all in one. It now includes recipes and over 140 color photos.
Ryan Bouchard is the author of Gourmet Mushrooms of RI, the first book about mushroom hunting in the Ocean State. Emily Schmidt studies the health and nutritional values of our local mushrooms, as well as the many incredible ways they can be cooked. They educate people about safely hunting for wild mushrooms in the Southern New England area.
