State Police Investigate Deadly West Greenwich Highway Crash

Before dawn on Saturday, a Mini Cooper lost control on Rt. 95 and hit a large rock. It's the third fatal crash on RI's Rt. 95 in three days.

WEST GREENWICH, RI — Rhode Island State Police are investigating another deadly highway crash, this one in West Greenwich.

At around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks joined West Greenwich police and fire in responding to a single-vehicle crash on Route 95. Police say a 2010 Mini Cooper operated by Jason E. Reid, 45, of Concord, New Hampshire, was heading south on Rt. 95 and failed to negotiate a curve near the Rt. 3 overpass. The car veered right, hit a large rock structure, and rolled over. Reid was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital and later pronounced dead.

It was the third fatal crash on Rt. 95 in three days.

On Friday, troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks joined Providence Fire and Rescue in responding to a motorcycle crash on Rt. 95 South. A 2017 Harley Davidson, operated by Scott M. Vickers, 56, of East Providence, was traveling in the high-speed lane. Just north of the Thurber's Avenue overpass, Vickers lost control. His motorcycle struck a jersey barrier in the center median. He was thrown from the bike. Vickers was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An on Thursday just before 6 a.m., troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks joined Pawtucket police and fire at the scene of a crash on Rt. 95 South near Exit 27. A Toyota Scion operated by Osman Eduardo Lopez-Enriquez, 19, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, was traveling in the high-speed lane. Before the Walcott Street overpass, the Scion struck a jersey barrier in the center median and rolled over. Lopez-Enriquez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
