Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of a man who was found inside a motel room over the weekend.

Officers were dispatched to the Super 8 at 5719 Fairfield Road shortly before noon on May 30, 2021 after an employee found the man and called 9-1-1. EMS arrived on scene and officially pronounced the man deceased.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office will positively identify the man and determine how he died.
