The Columbia Police Department’s (CPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU) has arrested a Richland School District Two employee in connection with a criminal sexual conduct investigation.

John Meredith Jennings turned himself in to CPD on July 7, 2021 and is charged with First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor.

The charges stem from reported allegations that between 2014 and 2017, Jennings allegedly sexually assaulted a minor female who was between the ages of 6 and 9-years old.

He is further accused of inappropriately touching another female who was between the ages of 10 and 13-years-old. The allegations were reported to CPD in March 2021. Since that time, the CPD Special Victims Unit has been investigating.

At last check, Jennings remained housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
