Jail Guard Accused of Shooting Woman, Setting Her on Fire
Deputies say Tristan Gist, 23, shot and killed a pregnant woman and then set her on fire in the woods in Northeast Columbia.

A 23-year-old man is in jail after Richland County deputies say he shot a pregnant woman last week and set her body on fire in the woods in northeast Richland County.
Tristan Gist, who deputies say is a detention officer at the Richland County jail, is charged with murder and death or injury of a child in utero due to commission of a violent crime. Investigators arrested Gist at his home Monday.Â
The victim was 22-year-old Dierra Fisher, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said, but the coroner's office is still waiting on positive identification from medical records.

Investigators with the sheriff's department say Gist shot Fisher and drove her body to the wooded area near Fort Jackson with his two small children in the car before setting her on fire.
Gist is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
