Report: Actor, Columbia Native Lee Thompson Young Found Dead at Age 29
Lee Thompson Young, a Columbia native, died Monday morning at age 29.

Actor Lee Thompson Young, a Columbia native who was the star of the Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson," was found dead Monday at his home in Los Angeles, several media outlets report.Â
Young was 29 years old.Â
According to a CNN report, Young's manger said the actor committed suicide.
Young most recently starred in the TNT series "Rizzoli & Isles." In a statement on the company's website, executive producer Janet Tamaro said:
"Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. (Read the full statement here.)
At age 10, Young portrayed 'Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.' in the production of "A Night Of Stars And Dreams" in his hometown of Columbia, which is said to have inspired him to pursue a career as an actor, according to IMDB.com, the Internet database for movies and television.
Young also attended Irmo Middle School Campus I, now CrossRoads Middle School, according to a report from The State.Â
Young starred in several films including "Friday Night Lights" and "Akeelah and the Bee."
