Richland County School District Two: SENIORS GRADUATE WITH MILLIONS IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS

The costs of getting a good college education make every dollar of every scholarship extremely valuable and helps lighten the financial load for students and their families. Richland Two seniors in the graduating class of 2021 earned more than $138 million in college scholarship offers. Individual totals for all five high schools are as follows:   Last week Richland Two held outdoor commencement ceremonies for the second straight year. The weather cooperated, and Richland Two Superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis told the seniors, “During this unprecedented school year we have remained focused on providing each of you with a premier educational experience despite the roadblocks and obstacles caused by COVID. You have been pushed and pulled this year in more ways than any other class before you.” This forging process, he said, has produced a champion of the highest quality.   This graduating class includes 20 students who made history by being the first in the nearly 100-year history of Richland Two to earn a high school diploma and college degree at the same time. The students enrolled in the Richland Two AVID Early College housed at Ridge View High School four years ago. In May, they received Associate’s degrees in the Arts from the University of South Carolina-Sumter valued at $25,376 per student, $507,520 collectively. The Richland Two AVID Early College is available to rising eighth-grade students across the district.
