Trey Gowdy Comes Up Big for GOP -- On the Golf Course
Annual golf outing temporarily puts aside partisan rancor.

While much of the golf world was talking about Phil Mickelson's stunning final round in the British Open, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-4) held off Kentucky Rep. John Yarmouth and give Republicans their second consecutive win in the First Tee Congressional Challenge.
Needing to win the last hole to clinch his match and give the Democrats the win, Yarmouth's 12-foot putt slipped past the hole, according to Roll Call.Â
The annual event features 10 members from each party squaring off to raise money for the First Tee program, a charity which promotes youth golf programs. Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-2) played for the Democrats.
Gowdy will tend to weightier matters this week as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, which continues work on finding a path to immigration reform.
