When Is The South Carolina Republican Primary? Donald Trump Dominating Latest Polls
With just days to go until the Palmetto State casts its vote for the Republican nomination, Trump is leading state polls — by a lot.
Real estate mogul Donald Trump held a commanding lead in the latest statewide Republican nomination polls in South Carolina, just days until the Palmetto State becomes the third state to cast its vote in the GOP primary.
The South Carolina primary will be held on Saturday, February 20. The Democrats will vote the following week, Saturday, February 27.
The state is considered to be an early test for candidates’ ability to appeal to the minority vote, after early voting in Iowa and New Hampshire, primarily white states.

South Carolina is 68.3 percent white, compared to 94 percent in New Hampshire and 92.1 percent in Iowa, according to the latest U.S. census estimates.
Trump continued to hold a commanding lead in the state Wednesday, according to a RealClearPolitics average of five major polls.

He was polling at 35 percent in the state following a heated Republican presidential debate Saturday, according to RealClearPolitics.
Trump was followed by:
- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz — 17.8 percent
- Florida Sen. Marco Rubio — 16 percent
- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — 9.8 percent
- Ohio Gov. John Kasich — 9 percent
- Neurosurgeon Ben Carson — 6 percent
The latest poll in the average, released Wednesday afternoon by Monmouth University, told a similar story, with Trump at 35 percent, Cruz and Rubio jostling for second and the three other candidates vying for a distant fourth-place finish.
