Lotz House is a 19th century estate owned by German immigrant Johan Lotz. The house is situated on a piece of property roughly 5 acres in size and has since been converted into a Civil War museum. Lotz House is a must-see for history buffs, especially those interested in learning more about the infamous Battle of Franklin. Franklin Holiday Light Tour is an engaging and affordable way to get a dose of the Christmas spirit and get a better idea of what downtown Franklin looks like. The Light Tour is hosted by Franklin Trolley, and kids and parents of all ages are welcome. You'll learn about the history of Franklin dating back to the Civil War while taking in the famous festive lighting features. Tickets are $20 and you can buy them online.

Dickens of a Christmas is the biggest Christmas festival in the Middle Tennessee area. Enjoy over 200 live musicians playing your favorite Christmas tunes, and even sing a long to your favorites during the caroling concert. Be prepared to see live characters from famous Dickens' novels roaming about, like Fagin from Oliver Twist or Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim Cratchit from A Christmas Carol. Kids can enjoy a free arts and craft station until 3 p.m. and general admission is free to the public.

SOAR has different levels of adventuring based on age and skill level. The first three levels are appropriate for all ages and sizes. The Movie Gang Presents: The Nightmare Before Christmas is the ideal rainy day option in Franklin if your holiday is interrupted by poor weather. Bring the whole gang to the Franklin Theater on December 23 to watch this classic Christmas film. There are showings at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. You can buy tickets online. If you get there early enough, enjoy a free doughnut courtesy of Five Daughters Bakery.
