Don't Play On Frozen Ponds: Police

Ponds that look frozen probably aren't and if you fall in, you will be very cold.

FRANKLIN, TN -- As frigid temperatures tighten their grip on Middle Tennessee, ponds and creeks are freezing and police departments across Middle Tennessee are receiving numerous calls from concerned citizens about children playing on the ice.

The police's advice? Don't do that.

It's likely the ice isn't frozen all the way through nor is it likely to be frozen at a consistent depth, which essentially creates an unstable situation and were the ice to break, anyone walking on it could be plunged into the dangerously cold water below the surface, creating a potentially fatal situation in a matter of moments.
