Franklin Has 61 Registered Sex Offenders

FRANKLIN, TN — Before kids go trick or treating on Halloween, October is a good time to take stock of who is living nearby. There are 61 registered sex offenders living in Franklin on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry.

Of those 61, two are in the Williamson County Jail and two others are homeless. A return for a search for "Franklin" also returns a man currently incarcerated in the Simpson County, Ky. Jail in the Franklin in the Commonwealth, because the Tennessee registry's search function assumes all offenders are in Tennessee.

Sheriff's departments and police typically spend the days before Halloween reminding registered sex offenders of the non-contact rules and in the two decades since states began registries, the number of sex crimes against children on Halloween has fallen to virtually zero.
