Franklin School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Franklin is August 10 for grades 1-10 and August 18 for kindergarten. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Franklin Special School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/3: District-Wide Professional Learning
• 8/4: Site-Based Professional Learning
• 8/7: Site-Based Professional Learning
• 8/8: Administrative Day (Family Meet and Greet: 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.)
• 8/9: Site-Based Professional Learning
• 8/10: First Day for Grades 1-8, Early Dismissal Day
• 8/18: First Day for Kindergarten

September

• 9/1: Early Dismissal Day
• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/6: Early Dismissal Day, End of First Quarter Grading Period
• 10/9 - 10/13: No School (Fall Break)

November

• 11/17: Early Dismissal Day
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Holidays)

December

• 12/21: Abbreviated Day (2 Hours), End of Second Quarter Grading Period (44 days)
• 12/22 - 1/2: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/2: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/3: No School for Students (District-Wide Professional Learning)
• 1/4: No School for Students (Administrative Day)
• 1/5: Students Return
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday)

February

• 2/16: Early Dismissal Day
• 2/19: No School (Presidents Day Holiday)

March

• 3/9: End of Third Quarter Grading Period
• 3/23: Early Dismissal Day
• 3/26 - 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/23: Last Day for Students, Abbreviated Day (2 Hours), End of Fourth Quarter Grading Period
• 5/24: Administrative Day
