Franklin Soccer Team Wins National Title

As a record crowd watched England's Manchester City defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in Nashville, a Franklin soccer team made its own history in Texas.

Franklin's Showcase '99 took the US Youth National title Sunday, defeating the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in Frisco, Texas, behind goals from Julie Garst and Karlie Pashall. "Words will never be adequate enough to describe this feeling," Pashall told The Tennessean. "It was awesome. One of our assistant coaches said, 'Come out strong in the first 20 minutes.' I said, 'OK.' And from the very beginning of the game, I wanted to set the tone, but enjoy this opportunity."
