Franklin Wrong-Way Driver Was Drunk, Armed: Police

A wrong-way driver turned out to be drunk and armed, according to Franklin Police.

FRANKLIN, TN -- A 57-year-old Franklin man is charged with his third DUI after driving the wrong way down a busy road Saturday night.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Franklin Police received a call of a reckless driver on Highway 96 near Front Street. A patrolling officer spotted the car in question driving down the wrong side of the road and stopped the vehicle.

The driver, Craig Spender, was impaired, the officer said, and had a pistol tucked in his waistband.

Spencer is charged with his third DUI and carrying a weapon while under the influence.
