FRANKLIN, TN - Franklin has plenty of history to be explored. Between cemeteries honoring fallen Civil War veterans to farms previously owned by 20th century aristocrats, Franklin is home to tremendous amounts of history.

  • Lotz House - Civil War Museum is dedicated to remembering the different heroess and notable people from the Franklin area. It's open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday. Interested in attending this weekend? Read up on how to plan your visit. It's free for children on the weekends.

  • McGavock Confederate Cemetery is a great option for history buffs who are interested in learning more about the battles of Franklin's past. Specifically, the Battle of Franklin which took place on November 30 in 1864. The battle resulted in over 8,000 casualties, and many are buried in the historic McGavock Cemetery.

  • The Park at Harlinsdale Farms is a historic farm that was founded in 1933 and has since been converted into a fully-functional park. Harlinsdale Farms has amenities like 200 acres of farmland, 1/2 acre dog park, a 3 acre pond, public parking and a 5K running track.

  • Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501 c-3 nonprofit historic site that is home to the Carter House, a historic plantation that welcomes visitors to explore the days of old. It's open Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's free for kids under 6, and adults admission is $ 10.
