Need A Book? There's A Mountain Of Free Ones In Franklin

Thousands of books are piled up in Franklin after the lessee was evicted from a storage unit. Get 'em 'til they're gone.

ILFRANKThousands of books were cleared out of a storage unit last week in Franklin after the owner was evicted.

FRANKLIN, TN -- Anyone looking for a new read - or one thousand new ones - should head to Franklin, where a mountain of free books is piled up, ready for the taking.

The lessee of a storage unit was evicted last week and after padlocking the unit, the storage facility's owner piled the books outside, as Tennessee law requires, as it gives an evictee the chance to recover his property.

That was Thursday. The books - or at least a significant number of them - are still there. WKRN said teachers were browsing the stacks Monday to find freebies for their forthcoming students.

For now, the books are piled up on Southeast Parkway near Columbia Avenue near Graceworks Ministry. Rain is obviously a major concern, though forecasters say there's only slight chances over the rest of week.
