Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival 2017: Everything You Need To Know

Here's the lowdown on traffic, parking, weather, food ... and the music for this weekend's big event in Franklin.

FRANKLIN, TN — The Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival returns to Franklin's Harlinsdale Farm Saturday and Sunday September 23 and 24 for two days of live music, art, crafts, food, drink and general merrymaking.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When: Gates open at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, with music beginning at 10:15. The last show each night — Justin Timberlake takes the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder at 7:20 p.m. Sunday — is scheduled to wrap up at 8:30 p.m. or so.

Where: Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin on between the Harpeth River and Franklin Road near the Liberty Pike intersection.

Tickets: Still available! One-day passes run $150 and weekend passes $275.

Directions and Parking: I-65 to Cool Springs Blvd. West, exit 68. Continue west until the road dead ends into Mack Hatcher Parkway. Turn right and continue to the first traffic light, Franklin Road, and turn left. Drive 1.5 miles, and The Park at Harlinsdale will be on the right. The festival is also running shuttles from surrounding areas and is encouraging carpooling. They have a neat website explaining how that works,

On-site parking at Harlinsdale is sold out, but off-site parking ($20 cash only or free if a car has three or more people inside) is available at Liberty Elementary and Ligon Field, both of which are a short walk to the park. The Lyfr pick-up and drop-off is at the Factory at Franklin.

Courtesy George Dickel, Pilgrimage attendees 21 and older can enter promo code ‘DICKELPF’ in the Lyft app to redeem for one ride from 8 a.m. on Saturday through 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Only the first 750 users to enter the code will receive a $10 ride discount. The voucher is only eligible for rides taken to or from .5 miles of the Pilgrimage Festival grounds.

Biking and paddling to the festival are encouraged and there is free canoe and kayak parking on the beach at the park.

Street parking in Franklin is also permitted, but all parking laws will be enforced.

Traffic Changes: Beginning Saturday 6:00 a.m. through Sunday evening at approximately 11:00 p.m. drivers will only be able to drive south on Franklin Road from Harpeth Industrial Court to First Avenue. The northbound lane from First Avenue to Liberty Pike will be reserved for pedestrians and bicycles. Those driving west on Liberty Pike will only be allowed to turn left (or south) towards downtown. There will be no vehicle access to the festival from Liberty Pike. Those with paid passes parking at Harlinsdale park for the festival will need to access the park from Mack Hatcher and Franklin Road (southbound). .

Performance schedule: The festival has its lineup here. Top acts on Saturday 90s hitmakers Better Than Ezra (whose co-founder Kevin Griffin also co-founded the festival), snarling neo-classic country chanteuse Nikki Lane, folk revivalists The Avett Brothers, and Timberlake, the world's biggest pop star not named Beyonce. Sunday includes Nashville's best named band Marty Stuart & The Fabulous Superlatives, prolific alt-country singer/songwriter Ryan Adams and is capped by Vedder's solo performance.

Weather: Look for highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s with slight rain chances both days.

Food & Drink: There is a lot of local food and beer available in the midway, plus a beer hall with TVs for folks who just can't miss the weekend football action.

What Not to Bring: Blankets must be no larger than 8' by 10' and chairs must have backs shorter than 30". No outside alcohol or food is permitted, nor are glass bottles of any kind. No cameras with removable lenses, beach umbrellas, chain wallets, inflatables of any kind (including footballs), tents, large backpacks or drones. A full list of prohibited items is here.
