Water Main Break Snarls Franklin Morning Commute

A busted water main iced up streets in downtown Franklin Wednesday.

FRANKLIN, TN -- A busted water main once again caused traffic problems in Middle Tennessee Wednesday morning.

Franklin Police said a main at Blue Grass Drive broke early Wednesday, pouring water onto Murfreesboro Road, which froze into a sheet of ice in the frigid morning air.

FPD closed Murfreesboro Road between Margin and Eddy Lane and advised commuters to use Mack Hatcher while repairs and salt trucks worked to make Murfreesboro Road passable.

It's the second day this week that broken mains have caused icy road conditions analogous to an ice storm, despite the latest Middle Tennessee cold snap being a dry one.
