Williamson County Chamber: BLOOD ASSURANCE AND BASS PRO SHOPS ATTEMPTING TO REEL IN BLOOD DONORS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 30, 2021) – Anglers and hunters know better than anyone that size matters. Blood Assurance is asking Bass Pro Shops customers in Nashville to remember that when the non-profit seeks to collect a large quantity of blood during an upcoming donation drive at the store.

The Friday, July 2 blood drive will take place 11 a.m.-5 p.m. outside the Opry Mills store located at 323 Opry Mills Dr.

Blood donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at bloodassurance.org/bassproshop0702, by calling 800-962-0628, or by texting BAGIVE to 999777, however walk-ins will be accepted.

A $10 Bass Pro Shops gift card will be given to all participating donors to help pay for some of those rods, reels and other items found inside the fishing and hunting megastore.

Blood usage tends to increase during the 4th of July weekend due to travel and water activities. Blood Assurance needs to be prepared with an adequate supply of blood on the shelf to help local hospitals meet the need of area patients. Blood cannot be manufactured. Blood Assurance counts on volunteer donors daily to save lives.

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids — avoiding caffeine — and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
