Williamson, Franklin Unemployment Drops Sharply In April

The unemployment rate fell in all 95 Tennessee counties in April with Williamson County's down a half-point to 2 percent.

NASHVILLE, TN — Williamson County's unemployment fell sharply in April, down 0.5 percent to 2 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and remains the state's lowest.

The unemployment rate dropped in all 95 of the state's counties.

Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee.

In Franklin, the city-level unemployment rate is estimated at 1.9 percent, also down a half-point from March and the lowest figure in the state in cities of 25,000 people or more. In neighboring Brentwood, that figure is 2 percent.

Williamson County's unemployment rate has dropped 0.4 percent since April 2017.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.4 percent for the third straight month.
