Williamson, Franklin Unemployment Historically Low
Despite a paltry uptick in May, joblessness in Williamson County and Franklin remains at a historically low level.

NASHVILLE, TN — Williamson County's unemployment rose slightly in May, up 0.1 percent to 2.1 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and remains the state's lowest.
The unemployment rate rose in 75 counties, fell in eight and stayed the same in the remaining 12; 93 of the state's 95 counties reported a jobless rate below 5 percent.
Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, eight were in Middle Tennessee.

In Franklin, the city-level unemployment rate is estimated at 2 percent, up 0.1 percent from April and the lowest figure in the state in cities of 25,000 people or more. In neighboring Brentwood, that figure is 2.2 percent.

Williamson County's unemployment rate has dropped 0.2 percent since May 2017.
The state rate, reported last week, is 3.5 percent.
