CONROE, TX — The Montgomery County Commissioners Court released the minutes from its March 30 meeting. Here are five things you might have missed from the special session.

  • The court passed a fee increase at Lake Conroe Park from $2 to $5. The motion, made by Precinct 4 Commissioner James Metts and seconded by Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley, took effect April 1.
  • Metts also motioned for an increase of cash drawer funds at Lake Conroe Park. The move, which was seconded by Riley, calls for a total increase of $150.
  • The court approved the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2020, but with a note of disagreement on a finding from the outside auditor regarding retainage that should have been capitalized last year. The court said the same auditing firm went against previous guidance on the issue. The county still earned a AAA rating.
  • The court accepted a Fiscal Year 2021 Formula Grant award of $398,118.38 from the Texas Indigent Defense Commission. The court previously approved the grant application in October.
  • Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack motioned to accept the Proposed Guidelines & Criteria for Tax Abatement for Montgomery County in accordance with the Texas Property Redevelopment and Tax Abatement Act (Texas Tax Code 312). The motion was seconded by Metts and passed.
