Committee Recommends No Raises for Montgomery County Officials

An appointed committee recommended no raises for Montgomery County elected officials.

CONROE, TX — A committee appointed by the Montgomery County Commissioners' Court recommended that salaries for elected officials remain at current levels for the next fiscal year.

The committee compared current elected official salaries to those of similar sized and area counties and determined that Montgomery County officials are paid 11-52 percent more than officials in comparable counties.

Of course, since 81 percent of Montgomery County residents live in unincorporated areas served only by the county the higher pay for elected officials may be justified. Additionally, Montgomery County has routinely awarded cost of living adjustments for the last several years.
