DEA, Montgomery Co. Law Enforcement Want Unused Prescriptions

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day offers residents a chance to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs. Here are locations near you.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Montgomery County enforcement is doing its part to help combat prescription drug misuse. The Woodlands Township Patrol Division of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3 are sponsoring pickup locations for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

The Woodlands Township Patrol Division pickup will take place in the front parking lot of The Woodlands Township, and the Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3 location will be at Gateway Church in Spring.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, an estimated 16.3 million people misused prescription drugs in 2019, including 9.7 million people who misused pain killers. The study also found that more than half of respondents who misused prescription drugs received them from a friend or relative, either with or without their knowledge.

Take Back Day allows people to get rid of their unused prescription medication in a safe way to help prevent drug misuse.
