Habitat For Humanity Having Veterans Home Fair Saturday
Honor Café in Conroe is teaming up with Habitat to help veterans learn about affordable housing and repairs offered by the nonprofit.

CONROE, TX — Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is holding a veterans home fair at Honor Café in Conroe on Saturday.
The event, which will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., will help veterans and their families learn about affordable housing and home repairs offered by the nonprofit organization.
"Every military family deserves a decent and affordable place to live and Habitat MCTX is ready to help," Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County stated in a news release.

Habitat MCTX is designated a Veterans Build Organization through Habitat for Humanity International. The program focuses on five tenets:
- Build and repair safe, affordable homes
- Recruit veterans to work at Habitat
- Volunteer opportunities for veterans
- Educate veterans in financial literacy/education for volunteers and staff on military culture
- Honor veterans through special events
At the fair, participants will receive direct application assistance from staff and trained volunteers for Habitat for Humanity's housing assistance programs. Both homeowner and home repair applications are available online for anyone unable to attend. Honor Café, which is located 103 W. Thompson St. in Conroe, was chosen to host the event because of its military theme.
"We need a strong community to pull together for veterans and their families," said owner Chris Sadler, who served in the United States Marine Corps, in the release. "We can't help every veteran if we don't start helping one at a time."
