La Torretta Laying Off 241 As It Transforms To Margaritaville

La Torretta Resort will be laying off 241 employees in June with the resort changes hands and begins renovations

MONTGOMERY, TX — Employees at Lake Conroe’s La Torretta Lake Resort will be getting pink slips as the resort transforms into Texas’ first Margaritaville Resort.

The layoffs, which are effective June 4, will impact more than 240 employees, which includes 200 hourly workers.

Officials with Interstate Hotels & Resorts Inc., said their management of the resort will also end on June 4, which coincides with the closure of the resort for renovations, according to a Houston Business Journal report.

On April 4, officials with Margaritaville Holdings, Songy Highroads (SHR) and The Wampold Companies announce they’d purchased La Torretta Lake Resort with plans to transform the resort into the first Margaritaville resort in Texas.

Margaritaville will include 360 guest rooms on 186 prime waterfront acres that will include waterfront villas on the lake.

Two of the existing restaurants will be converted into signature Margaritaville dining concepts – LandShark Bar & Grill and 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.

The Margaritaville Resort is projected to open in July 2020.
