Lake Creek Baseball Duo Named THSBCA All-State
Seniors Jagger Neely and John Spikerman were named to the second team, and Porter senior Conner Westenburg was named to the third team.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Lake Creek seniors Jagger Neely and John Spikerman were second-team selections on the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 5A All-State Team, released Monday evening.
Neely was selected as a third baseman, and Spikerman earned his spot at shortstop. Porter senior Conner Westenburg was a third-team pick as an outfielder.
Neely and Spikerman led the Lions to a District 20-5A championship and a berth in the regional semifinals, where they fell to eventual state champion Barbers Hill. Lake Creek defeated A&M Consolidated, Austin McCallum and crosstown rival Montgomery in the first three rounds of the playoffs and finished with a 26-13-1 record and a No. 12 ranking in the final Diamond Pro Class 5A poll.

Westenburg helped Porter to the regional quarterfinals, where the Spartans bowed out to ninth-ranked College Station. Porter beat Brenham and Pflugerville Hendrickson in the first two rounds and finished with a 23-15 record and No. 25 ranking.
In 6A, Grand Oaks finished with a No. 16 ranking in the final Diamond Pro Class 6A poll. The Grizzlies won the 13-6A championship and advanced to the regional semifinals before losing to fifth-ranked Rockwall.
