MAGNOLIA, TX — Magnolia Pharmacy was named one of three finalists for the 2021 Good Neighbor Pharmacy of the Year award at ThoughtSpot 2021, Good Neighbor Pharmacy's annual conference and trade show hosted by AmerisourceBergen.

“We are honored to be recognized as a finalist for the 2021 Good Neighbor Pharmacy of the Year award,” said Steve Hoffart, owner and pharmacist at Magnolia Pharmacy, in a news release. “At Magnolia Pharmacy, we recognize that the days of just filling prescriptions are gone. This year taught us that we have the ability to touch lives on a more frequent basis than any other health care profession, and we’re excited to continue serving our community at the highest level.”

Magnolia Pharmacy was proactive in taking on the challenges presented by the coronavirus, from giving out hand sanitizer to first responders early in the pandemic to being a consistent source of information on COVID-19 vaccines.

Hoffart, a longtime Magnolia resident, used Facebook Live to give real-time updates when COVID-19 vaccines first gained emergency use authorization, and two weeks later, 500 vaccination appointments were booked for the first wave of eligible residents of Montgomery County. Magnolia Pharmacy, which opened in 2002, also contracted directly with the state of Texas to secure doses of the Moderna vaccine and maintained an online sign-up form to notify patients of available appointments.

"COVID has changed not only my pharmacy but pharmacy practice moving forward. There's no doubt in my mind," Hoffart said in Magnolia Pharmacy's finalist video. "It's not just patients, it's relationships with practitioners, relationships with your staff, relationships with our families. There's no profession that's had an opportunity to be more adaptive, be able to pivot, be creative to take care of patients than independent pharmacy. That's what we've done here. We have poured our hearts out during this whole pandemic, but in the same regard, our patients have poured their hearts out and given us so much."
