MCVMP Hosting Family Fun Day, Memorial Day Observance
Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park will host a kids fishing event May 30 and an observance and dedication on Memorial Day.

CONROE, TX — The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park is honoring the sacrifices of service members with a pair of events Memorial Day weekend - a family fun day and a day of remembrance.
The Inaugural Kids Cast & Catch and Family Fun Day will begin at 9:30 a.m. May 30 and will feature car and motorcycle shows, fishing for kids ages 3-9, food, games and entertainment and a patriotic-themed concert.
All fishing supplies are provided for participants, and registration starts at 9 a.m. Sign up for fishing here.

On May 31, the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park will host a Memorial Day observance and dedication at 11 a.m. and encourages participants to visit the four main memorials at the park: The Line, Victory Row, The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Monument, and Remembered Whispers.
Former County Judge Jimmie C. Edwards, chairman of the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission, said in a release that setting aside time to remember fallen service members over Memorial Day was important.

“Along with our weekend activities and observances, we will be dedicating specific memorials within the park," Edwards, who served in the Marine Corps, said in the release. "The Memorial Park is a time for reflection, education, and learning. We invite the community to join us now and as we continue to grow through outreach and educational components.”
The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission is continuing fundraising efforts to add a new education and visitors center. The building would provide a place for the public to learn about the experiences of service members throughout United States history. It also would function as an emergency response and support center during disasters such as hurricanes.
