MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The public comment period on the 2021 Montgomery County Thoroughfare Plan ended on June 11, and according to a report from the Conroe Courier, the Montgomery County Commissioner's Court is expected to hear input and possibly adopt the plan in July.

The plan is a map of potential roadway projects and existing thoroughfares that government officials will use as a guide for future projects. It's is an update of the 2016 plan, which featured several controversial potential roadway projects, including extensions of Woodlands Parkway, Branch Crossing and Gosling Road.

Despite those projects being removed in the updated map, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors earlier this month passed a resolution opposing several proposed projects in the 2021 Thoroughfare Plan, which includes a slight modification to the Woodlands Parkway extension in which it connects Highway 249 to FM 2978 at an intersection just south of Woodlands Parkway.
