No Mask Mandates: Montgomery Co. Schools In Line With Order
Several districts already had decided to stop requiring masks before June 4, which is the deadline outlined in Gov. Abbott's order.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Several Montgomery County school districts already are in line with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's latest executive order concerning COVID-19 and mask mandates.
Abbott signed an executive order Tuesday banning government entities from requiring masks. The order included public schools, which won't be allowed to mandate mask use on their campuses after June 4.
New Caney ISD announced at its Board of Trustees meeting Monday that masks will no longer be required beginning June 1.

Conroe ISD and Montgomery ISD previously announced their mask policies would end June 1, and Willis ISD's mask requirement is set to end May 24, marking the start of summer activities. Magnolia ISD curbed its mask requirement on April 1.
"We have not yet had the opportunity to fully analyze the governor’s latest executive order," Justin Marino, director of communications at Montgomery ISD, said in a statement, adding that the district's mask policy specifically will not violate the order.

Splendora ISD still requires masks when indoors and unable to social distance, and the Splendora ISD executive team will meet to discuss the executive order Wednesday morning. The last day of school at Splendora ISD is May 26.
Also Tuesday, the Montgomery County Public Health District announced the amount of active cases of COVID-19 in the county fell to 1,330, a decrease of 115 from Monday's report. The county's total case count climbed 73 to 53,875. Hospitalizations in the county dropped to 74, a decrease of three, with 21 in intensive care.
Vaccine information
MCPHD continues to encourage residents to get vaccinated. The Woodforest Bank Stadium vaccine hub in Shenandoah is closing June 3 and will be administering only second doses of vaccine until then.
