Pair Of Highlanders Named To NFCA All-Region Softball Team
The Woodlands' Kayla Falterman and Alannah Leach earned first- and second-team nods, respectively, on the South Central All-Region Team.
THE WOODLANDS, TX — The Woodlands softball players Kayla Falterman and Alannah Leach were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association South Central All-Region Team, the organization announced Friday.
Falterman, a senior second baseman, was selected to the first team, while the sophomore Leach was picked as an outfielder for the second team.
Falterman posted a .515 batting average with a .553 on-base percentage and was a perfect 50 for 50 in stolen base attempts in her final season with the Highlanders. She notched eight doubles and seven triples and scored 67 runs with 35 batted in.

Falterman capped her stellar senior season by making the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 6A All-State Team.
Leach displayed stellar bat-to-ball skills as a sophomore, hitting .505 while striking out just four times all season, scoring 44 runs with 41 batted in. She hit six doubles and five triples and stole 24 bases.

Falterman and Leach helped lead The Woodlands to the Class 6A Region II semifinals, where the Highlanders fell to Bryan in a three-game series. The Woodlands beat Spring Dekaney, Klein and Cypress Woods in the first three rounds to reach the regional semifinals. Bryan’s top players, twin seniors Jessica and Jacque Adams, were first-team selections on the all-region team, while the Vikings’ Alexis Rodriguez was picked for the second team.
